It's an uphill battle for voiceover artists and audiobook narrators in our home studios to keep our booths at a reasonable temperature for hours on end. After several years of trial and error, a couple of different booths (both DIY and Manufactured), and lots of sweating--here are some of the best, simplest, and most effective ways I've found to keep my booth cool.

• Remove things that generate heat

  • Electronics

  • Computer

  • Interface

  • Power Banks/Strips

  • Lights

• Add Ventilation

  • Passive Ventilation (Intake at the bottom, Exhaust at the top)

  • Decoupled fans (Inline duct boosters are a dream)

  • Duct Silencers

• Put your booth in a climate controlled room/space in your home

  • Not an option for all of us, but a basement, spare bedroom, office, or den that can be set at a colder temp can help moderate what’s going on in your booth.

  • Bonus points if you can hook your booth’s ventilation up to your homes HVAC. Imagine, AC running right into your booth…we can dream.
